GAME 2 - STANLEY CUP FINAL!
The combination of tremendous goaltending by Cam Ward (25 saves to post his second shutout of the postseason), strong penalty killing, three power-play goals and a strong team effort worked beautifully for the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals, as the 'Canes took a 5-0 win and a 2-0 lead in the series.Defenseman Frantisek Kaberle had a goal and two assists, Mark Recchi a goal and an assist and Matt Cullen had three assists in the win. Andrew Ladd, Doug Weight and Cory Stillman also scored for the Hurricanes, who made the Stanley Cup Final debut of Oilers goalie Jussi Markkanen less than memorable.
The bottom line - Hurricanes stayed with their game plan, Oilers did not. Everyone expected the Edmonton Oilers' new No. 1 goalie to be rusty. Why his teammates were just as shaky is anyone's guess.
Game 3, Saturday, should prove to be a very interesting game.
Conklin or Markkanen? Why was Conklin backing up Roloson in Game 1, and Markkanen getting the start in Game 2? I don't see the rational here? MacTavish, why...why???
As my son would say, 'just my humble opinion'!
