MISSION TRIP

Our son, Brendan, left for Zambia on Thursday to minister to the needy.

The team will provide support to Chikankata Health Services, Chikankata High School, and the Chikankata Community, by working with the local service providers and community leaders.

Construction Plans : We have a number of construction plans to continue including repairs to hospital building foundations and corridors. We will be taking on 2 more ward renovations, along with some fencing and security projects for the hospital and nursing school. In addition, there will be a construction project (TBD) for Chikankata High School.

Vacation Bible Schools: A number of Schools and Churches have been identified as in need of our program, which will include providing a hot meal, supplies relief, and our VBS program of sports, music, crafts etc. The target number of children is 2500, and will consist of four full day programs.

Pastoral/Community Workers Retreat : This is a continuing program offering support to front line workers and pastors which will be conducted at Chikankata.

Vocational Sewing Training : A change from previous years considers limiting the number of students to 12 who are selected based on their degree of marginalization. These students will attend a full 8 day program inclusive of life skills training, finance management and other topics to prepare them as small businesses entrepreneurs.

Music Camp - this will be hosted at Chikankata High School. Details will be worked out with local supporters and Territorial Headquarters.

Special Project: includes the construction of a girl's home for orphaned or abandoned young girls. This resource centre is a place where young girls can come for continued support, life skills training, extra tuition for schooling, and health needs. This building will consist initially of a small boarding home, classroom and matrons quarters. In consultation with CHAZ, Spring of Hope Foundation and other organizations, we are developing partnerships in the realization of this long-term goal.

Health Care and Support : Continuation of Medical Supplies and Support - in 2006 we will be providing an opportunity for healthcare workers to spend 4 to 5 days on rotation with the healthcare providers at Chikankata Health Services and with the Rural Clinics.

Please support this Mission Trip with your PRAYERS! I am sure that the team will be blessed as they will be the Hands and Feet of Jesus serving the people of great need in Zambia.

Blessings!
