Confession, Cleansing & Renewal

"Generous in love—God, give grace! Huge in mercy—wipe out my bad record. Scrub away my guilt, soak out my sins in your laundry. I know how bad I've been; my sins are staring me down.
You're the One I've violated, and you've seen it all, seen the full extent of my evil. You have all the facts before you; whatever you decide about me is fair. I've been out of step with you for a long time, in the wrong since before I was born. What you're after is truth from the inside out. Enter me, then; conceive a new, true life." (Psalm 51: 1 - 6; The Message - Eugene H. Peterson)

I came across in following in my studies:

This Psalm is very human and divine.
It cries and sobs, and is freighted
With an inspiration all divine.
We weep over it with breath abated.

David had profound awareness of
His sins. “I have sinned,” fully sinful,
And in God’s sight. His only plea,
Oh,God to me a sinner be merciful.

Sin defiles. It makes one foul, filthy
And stains both in body and soul,
Polluted. Only the blood of Jesus
Christ can wash and make one whole.

He cries for pardon and purity
According to God’s unfailing love
And compassion. Only God’s grace can
Cover and cleanse for heaven above.

David asked for a new creation
Of heart and mind, and for the joy
Of his salvation to be restored,
Then he shall teach and sing with joy.
