GOD'S BOXES

I have in my hands two boxes,
Which God gave me to hold.
He said, "Put all your sorrows in the black box,
And all your joys in the gold."

I heeded His words, and in the two boxes,
Both my joys and sorrows I stored,
But though the gold became heavier each day,
The black was as light as before.

With curiosity, I opened the black,
I wanted to find out why,
And I saw, in the base of the box, a hole,
Which my sorrows had fallen out by.

I showed the hole to God, and mused,
"I wonder where my sorrows could be!"
He smiled a gentle smile and said,
"My child, they're all here with me."

I asked God, why He gave me the boxes,
Why the gold and the black with the hole?
"My child, the gold is for you to count your blessings,
The black is for you to let go."

Alone on top: Bonds breaks HR record

Barry Bonds hit No. 756 to the deepest part of the ballpark Tuesday night, and hammered home the point: Like him or not, he is baseball's new home run king.

Bonds broke Hank Aaron's storied record in the fifth inning, hitting a 3-2 pitch from Washington's
Mike Bacsik 435 feet to right-centre field. Three days earlier, Bonds tied the Hammer with a shot to left-centre in San Diego.

"Thank you very much. I got to thank all of you, all the fans here in San Francisco. It's been fantastic," he said shortly after crossing home plate, his godfather, Willie Mays, at his side.

Conspicuous by their absence were the commissioner and Aaron himself.

Though he was on hand for the tying homer, deciding to put baseball history ahead of the steroid allegations that have plagued the Giants slugger, Bud Selig wasn't there for the record-breaker.

Instead, he sent an emissary, Major League Baseball executive vice president Jimmie Lee Solomon.

As for Aaron, he said all along he had no interest in being there whenever and wherever his 33-year-old mark was broken. He was true to his word, but he did offer a taped message of congratulations that played on stadium's video board.

"It is a great accomplishment which required skill, longevity and determination," he said.

"Throughout the past century, the home run has held a special place in baseball and I have been privileged to hold this record for 33 of those years. I move over now and offer my best wishes to Barry and his family on this historic achievement.

"My hope today, as it was on that April evening in 1974, is that the achievement of this record will inspire o
thers to chase their own dreams," he said.

OUR ANCHOR

The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever."Isaiah 40:8

Often in our lives we have trials and heartaches that we have to go through, but we have an anchor, our blessed Savior, who will keep us from drowning. When there is no rain for a long time, or there is too much rain, the flowers and grass fade and wither. It is the same with us if we don't have a steady diet of the Word of God.

Sometimes our strength grows weak, and our determination falters, it is then that we need to cling to Jesus, our Anchor in the storms of life. If we are unable to run to Jesus, or even walk to Him because we are hurting so badly, then we need to crawl to Him, or ask someone to lift us up to Him.

It does not matter what heartache, problem or crisis we are facing, the Word of God is true and will stand forever. Many people scoff at the Bible and at those who believe it. Get a rope and tie yourself to the anchor of love, Jesus. As long as we are anchored in Him, all hell can come against us but we will be held safe and secure by His Love and faithfulness.

Is your strength weak today? Do you feel that you aren't able to go another day? Turn to the only one who can give lasting comfort and support. Yes, Jesus is our blessed anchor of hope and safety.

Thank God for His Anchor of Love!

Stanley Cup Champions 2007 - Anaheim Ducks!!!

The Stanley Cup is going to California for the first time.

Travis Moen scored a pair of goals to lead the Anaheim Ducks to a 6-2 Stanley Cup-clinching win Wednesday night in Anaheim.

Moen was credited with the Cup winner when Senators defenceman Chris Phillips, trying to come out from behind his own net, lost the puck into the skates of goaltender Ray Emery and Emery unknowingly directed the puck into his own goal.

Anaheim's checking line of Moen, Samuel Pahlsson and Rob Niedermayer was integral to the Ducks' cause, shutting down Ottawa's number one line throughout the series and chipping in three goals in the deciding game.

It was great seeing Ryan Getzlaf (former Calgary Hitman) raise the Stanley Cup!!! Looks good on you, Getzlaf!!!
