THE EAGLE

Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks?

The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to come. When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm. While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring above it.

The eagle does not escape the storm. It simply uses the storm to lift it higher. It rises on the winds that bring the storm.

When the storms of life come upon us - and all of us will experience them - we can rise above them by setting our minds and our belief toward God. The storms do not have to overcome us. We can allow God's power to lift us above them.

God enables us to ride the winds of the storm that bring sickness, tragedy, failure and disappointment in our lives. We can soar above the storm.

Remember, it is not the burdens of life that weigh us down, it is how we handle them.

The Bible says, "Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles." Isaiah 40:31

SOMETHING TO PONDER

LET YOUR HEART BE BROKEN

Let your heart be broken For a world in need –
Feed the mouths that hunger, Soothe the wounds that bleed,
Give the cup of water And the loaf of bread –
Be the hands of Jesus, Serving in His stead.

Here on earth applying Principles of Love
Visible expression, God still rules above,
Living illustration, Of the Living Word,
To the minds of all who’ve Never seen and heard.

Blest to be a blessing, Privileged to care,
Challenged by the need, Apparent ev’ry where,
Where mankind is wanting, Fill the vacant place,
Be the means thru which the Lord reveals His grace.

Add to your believing Deeds that prove it true
Knowing Christ as Savior, Make him Master Too:
Follow in His footsteps, Go where He had trod.
In the world’s great trouble, Risk yourself for God.

Let your heart be tender and your vision clear
See mankind as God sees, Serve Him far and near;
Let your heart be broken By a brother’s pain,
Share your rich resources- Give and give again.

SOMETHING TO PONDER!

"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." - Isaiah 40: 28 - 31

Lord, there are many things in my life I want to simply jump in and take care of - right now. I can hear you, through the Scriptures, advising me to wait. Lord it's still hard to wait for Your timing and direction. Help me to be more patient and listen to Your voice.

Teach me to wait on You and receive Your encouragement. I wait in Your presence. Lord, prepare me for what lies ahead. Strengthen me, as I wait. Enable my thoughts to be in line with Your thoughts. LORD, MY CONFIDENCE IS IN YOU!

REMEMBRANCE DAY

In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead.
Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders Fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

- John McCrae, 1915

We Will Remember Them

They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM.

In Flander's fields, World War I & World War II, Korea, Afghanistan's hills and Iraq's sand, the true heroes, who stand the post so we can sleep soundly, keep sacrificing their very lives for our freedom and well being.....a simple thank-you seems so inadequate sometimes....but it's all we can offer sadly.....

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

LOVE OR PERISH

Without love, hopes perish
Without love, dreams & creativity perish.
Without love, families & churches perish.
Without love, friendships perish.
Without love, the intimacies of romance perish.
Without love, the desire to go on living can perish.

To love and to be loved is the bedrock of our existence.

However, love must also flex and adapt. Rigid love is not true love. It is disguised manipulation, a conditional time bomb that explores when frustrated. Genuine love willingly waits! It is not pushy or demanding. While it has its limits, its boundaries are all-embracing. It neither clutches nor clings. Real love is not short-sighted, selfish, or insensitive. It detects needs and does what is best for the other person without being told.

We need to look at the greatest dissertation ever written on the subject.

"No matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I'm bankrupt without love.
Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut, Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything, Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end. "

- THE MESSAGE, Eugene Peterson

I believe there is still a heart shaped vacuum in the lives of so many people that only the three most wonderful, sincere words in the English language can fill: "I LOVE YOU"!

The challenge is to maintain and develop a spiritual lifestyle that is continually learning to rejoice in hope with each other, learning to pray instantly for each other, learning to bless each other, and learning to cry with each other when on of us hurt. In other words, loving each other in Christ!
