Saturday - A Great Day!

This post is a little late, but here it is.

Lorraine & I went to St Jacobs to the Farmers Market. We picked up 25 pounds of beets. In the next few days, we will bottle them.

The day was very hot, so we decided to come home. Upon arriving home we had an invitation to go to friends for a swim (I don't swim) and a BBQ.

We had a wonderful time of fellowship, food, and fun!

For the benefit of my boys, I did make some progress in the water!

THE OUTDOOR SERVICE

There were approximately 140 people at The Salvation Army outdoor service last night in downtown Cambridge.

The Band & songsters did a great job with the music!

This is a great venue to share the Message of the Gospel in our city!

We are so privilege in Cambridge to take the Gospel to the people.

I had the opportunity to greet people as they came, one person was a reporter from the Cambridge Times. She asked a lot of questions and took photos.

People in this city have a great respect for The Salvation Army. Please pray that God will continue to use the ministry of the Army as we continue to share in the coming weeks.

Blessings!

MISSION TRIP

Our son, Brendan, left for Zambia on Thursday to minister to the needy.

The team will provide support to Chikankata Health Services, Chikankata High School, and the Chikankata Community, by working with the local service providers and community leaders.

Construction Plans : We have a number of construction plans to continue including repairs to hospital building foundations and corridors. We will be taking on 2 more ward renovations, along with some fencing and security projects for the hospital and nursing school. In addition, there will be a construction project (TBD) for Chikankata High School.

Vacation Bible Schools: A number of Schools and Churches have been identified as in need of our program, which will include providing a hot meal, supplies relief, and our VBS program of sports, music, crafts etc. The target number of children is 2500, and will consist of four full day programs.

Pastoral/Community Workers Retreat : This is a continuing program offering support to front line workers and pastors which will be conducted at Chikankata.

Vocational Sewing Training : A change from previous years considers limiting the number of students to 12 who are selected based on their degree of marginalization. These students will attend a full 8 day program inclusive of life skills training, finance management and other topics to prepare them as small businesses entrepreneurs.

Music Camp - this will be hosted at Chikankata High School. Details will be worked out with local supporters and Territorial Headquarters.

Special Project: includes the construction of a girl's home for orphaned or abandoned young girls. This resource centre is a place where young girls can come for continued support, life skills training, extra tuition for schooling, and health needs. This building will consist initially of a small boarding home, classroom and matrons quarters. In consultation with CHAZ, Spring of Hope Foundation and other organizations, we are developing partnerships in the realization of this long-term goal.

Health Care and Support : Continuation of Medical Supplies and Support - in 2006 we will be providing an opportunity for healthcare workers to spend 4 to 5 days on rotation with the healthcare providers at Chikankata Health Services and with the Rural Clinics.

Please support this Mission Trip with your PRAYERS! I am sure that the team will be blessed as they will be the Hands and Feet of Jesus serving the people of great need in Zambia.

Blessings!

THE DYNAMICS OF THE SPIRITUAL LIFE

"Our emotional lives and our spiritual lives have different dynamics. The ups and downs of our emotional life depend a great deal on our past or present surroundings. We are happy, sad, angry, bored, excited, depressed, loving, caring, hateful, or vengeful because of what happened long ago or what is happening now.

The ups and downs of our spiritual lives depend on our obedience - that is, our attentive listening - to the movements of the Spirit of God within us. Without this listening our spiritual life eventually becomes subject to the windswept waves of our emotions." - Henri Nouwen

TAKE TIME

Take time to think - it is the source of power.
Take time to read - it is the foundation of wisdom.

Take time to play - it is the secret of staying young.
Take time to be quiet - it is the opportunity to seek God.

Take time to be aware - it is the opportunity to help others.
Take time to love and be loved - it is God's greatest gift.

Take time to laugh - it is the music of the soul.
Take time to be friendly - it is the road to happiness.

Take time to dream - it is what the future is made of.
Take time to pray - it is the greatest power on earth.

"There is a time for everything..." - Ecclesiastes 3:1

GAME 5 - ARGOS 26 RIDERS 23

Bashir Levingston scored two touchdowns, including the CFL's first kick return major of the season, as the injury-riddled Toronto Argonauts defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders 26-23 Saturday.

The win came a steep cost for the Argos (2-3), who lost quarterback Spergon Wynn to a head injury and running back Ricky Williams with a fractured left forearm. Williams will undergo more tests upon his return to Toronto.

Toronto is already without starting quarterback Damon Allen, who has missed the last three games with a broken finger on his throwing hand.

Eric Crouch took over at quarterback for Toronto at the beginning of the second half with the and threw a 94 yard pass to Bruce, and on the next play Johnson ran the ball 7 yards for the touchdown.

Crouch played well, but the Argos need to take a good look at the Quarterback position.

Out & About...

We took Mom & Dad Bishop out to Port Dover, Simcoe, Waterford, & Paris today.

It was a great day, very hot! We took a very interesting boat tour of Black River, had lunch, & did some site seeing. There's a beautiful family beach there.

We drove into Simcoe, and then to Waterford and visited 'Pots & Knots', a craft kind of place.

We ended up in Paris and did a little grocery shopping. We then headed for home. A great day was had by all!

THE RIGHT HANDS

A basketball in my hands is worth about $19.
A basketball in Michael Jordan's hands is worth about $33 million.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A baseball in my hands is worth about $6.
A baseball in Alex Rodriguez's hands is worth $25 million.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A tennis racket is useless in my hands.
A tennis racket in Roger Federer's hands usually means a Wimbledon title.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A rod in my hands will keep away a wild animal.
A rod in Moses' hands will part the mighty sea.
It depends whose hands it's in.

A sling shot in my hands is a kid's toy.
A sling shot in David's hand is a mighty weapon.
It depends whose hands it's in.

Two fish and five loaves of bread in my hands is a couple of fish sandwiches.
Two fish and five loaves of bread in God's hands will feed thousands.
It depends whose hands it's in.

Nails in my hands might produce a birdhouse.
Nails in Jesus Christ's hands will produce salvation for the entire world.
It depends whose hands it's in.

As you see now it depends whose hands it's in.

So put your concerns, your worries, your fears, your hopes, your dreams, your families and your relationships in God's hands because...

It depends whose hands it's in.

36 Christian Ways to Reduce Stress!

A friend sent me this by email. I would like to share it on my blog.

An Angel says, "Never borrow from the future. If you worry about what may happen tomorrow and it doesn't happen, you have worried in vain. Even if it does happen, you have to worry twice."

1. Pray
2. Go to bed on time.
3. Get up on time so you can start the day unrushed.
4. Say No to projects that won't fit into your time schedule, or that will compromise your [] mental health. 5. Delegate tasks to capable others.
6. Simplify and unclutter your life.
7. Less is more. (Although one is often not enough, ! two are often too many.)
8. Allow extra time to do things and to get to places.
9. Pace yourself. Spread out big changes and difficult projects over time; don't lump the hard things all together.
10. Take one day at a time.
11. Separate worries from concerns. If a situation is a concern, find out what God would have you do and let go of the anxiety. If you can't do anything about a situation, forget it.
12. Live within your budget; don't use credit cards for ordinary purchases.
13. Have backups; an extra car key in your wallet, an extra house key buried in the garden, extra stamps, etc.
14. K.M.S. (Keep Mouth Shut). This single piece of advice can prevent an enormous amount of trouble.
15. Do something for the Kid in You everyday.
16. Carry a Bible with you to read while waiting in line.
17. Get enough rest.
18. Eat right.
19. Get organized so everything has its place.
20. Listen to a tape whi! le driving that can help improve your quality of life.
21. Write down thoughts and inspirations.
22. Every day, find time to be alone.
23. Having problems? Talk to God on the spot. Try to nip small problems in the bud. Don't wait until it's t! ime to go to bed to try and pray.
24. Make friends with Godly people.
25. Keep a folder of favorite scriptures on hand.
26. Remember that the shortest bridge between despair and hope is often a good "Thank you Jesus."
27. Laugh.
28. Laugh some more!
29. Take your work seriously, but not yourself at all.
30. Develop a forgiving attitude (most people are doing the best they can).
31. Be kind to unkind people! (they p robably need it the most.
32. Sit on your ego.
33. Talk less; listen more.
34. Slow down.
35. Remind yourself that you are not the general manager of the universe
36 . Every night before bed, think of one thing you're grateful for that you've never been grateful for before. GOD HAS A WAY OF TURNING THINGS AROUND FOR YOU. "If God is for us, who can be against us?" (Romans 8:31)

Challenging Prayer!

I have always been challenged by the late, Mother Teresa and her work. Her daily prayer is a challenge to me, and I trust you may be challenged as well.

"Dear Jesus, help me to spread Thy fragrance everywhere I go. Flood my soul with Thy spirit and love. Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly that all my life may only be a radiance of Thine. Shine through me and be so in me that every soul I come in contact with may feel Thy presence in my soul. Let them look up and see no longer me but only Jesus. Stay with me and then I shall begin to shine as you shine, so to shine as to be a light to others."

A PRAYING CHURCH

“Satan dreads nothing but prayer. Activities are multiplied that prayer may be ousted, and organizations are increased that prayer may have no chance. The one concern of the devil is to keep the saints from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work, prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but trembles when we pray.” — Samuel Chadwick

Game 4 - Bombers 24 Argos 17

Kevin Glenn's 15-yard touchdown pass to Milt Stegall early in the fourth quarter earned the Winnipeg Blue Bombers a 24-17 win over the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday. The victory put Winnipeg in a tie for top spot in the East Division.

The Blue & White need a Quarterback.......................

Golf Joke - Top Ten Comebacks By A Caddy!

# 10 Golfer: "Think I'm going to drown myself in the lake."
Caddy: "Think you can keep your head down that long?"

# 9 Golfer: "I'd move heaven and earth to break 100 on this course."
Caddy: "Try heaven, you've already moved most of the earth."

# 8 Golfer: "Do you think my game is improving?"
Caddy: "Yes sir, you miss the ball much closer now."

# 7 Golfer: "Do you think I can get there with a 5 iron?"
Caddy: "Eventually."

# 6 Golfer: "You've got to be the worst caddy in the world."
Caddy: "I don't think so sir. That would be too much of a coincidence."

# 5 Golfer: "Please stop checking your watch all the time. It's too much of a distraction."
Caddy: "It's not a watch - it's a compass."

# 4 Golfer: "How do you like my game?"
Caddy: "Very good sir, but personally, I prefer golf."

# 3 Golfer: "Do you think it's a sin to play on Sunday?"
Caddy: "The way you play, sir, it's a sin on any day."

# 2 Golfer: "This is the worst course I've ever played on."
Caddy: "This isn't the golf course. We left that an hour ago."

# 1 Golfer: "That can't be my ball, it's too old."
Caddy: "It's been a long time since we teed off, sir."

Game # 3 - Lions 26 Argos 19

The British Columbia Lions are taking adversity to a new level, but this time they found a way to win.

Last week the defence let them down in Regina. This time the offence stalled late and the defence bailed the Lions out in a 26-19 victory over the Toronto Argonauts on Friday.

CELEBRATING CANADA DAY!!!

Lorraine & I, Mom & Dad Bishop went to Doon Heritage Crossroads to Celebrate Canada's Birthday, 139 years old.

We started off with a picnic...

Listened to some brass...

Listened to some
singing...

Some may think
I was out of my
tree!

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!

O Canada! our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The true North strong and free;
From far and wide, O Canada,
We stand on guard for thee.

Chorus
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada! Where pines and maples grow,
Great prairies spread and lordly rivers flow,
How dear to us thy broad domain,
From east to western sea!
Thou land to hope for all who toil!
Thou true north strong and free!

O Canada! beneath thy shining skies
May stalwart sons and gentle maidens rise;
To keep thee steadfast through the years
From east to western sea,
Our own belovŠd native land,
Our true north strong and free.

Ruler supreme, who hearest humble prayer,
Hold our Dominion in thy loving care.
Help us to find, O God, in thee
A lasting, rich reward.
As waiting for the better day,
We ever stand on guard.
